Colibri Scholars Program and Travel Awards

This workshop offers scientists three different opportunities for support. The Colibri Scholars Program, Travel Awards, and Care Funds. More information about these are below. Deadline for applications: January 31, 2025

Colibri Scholars Program

Early Stage Investigators (individuals who completed their terminal degrees within the past 10 years and who have not previously competed successfully as PD/PI for a substantial NIH independent research award) and new to the field scientists (not having received funding for ADRD related studies previously) interested in the year’s topic are encouraged to apply to our Colibri Scholars program.

Colibri Scholars receive year-long mentoring from one of the workshop experts for that year, and a scholarship to cover travel and lodging expenses to attend the conference.

The application materials for the Colibri Scholars program includes submission of:

  • Current CV

  • Research Statement of Interest (or specific aims of proposed study if you have them). Alternatively, you can submit a Statement of Commitment to conducting Latino cognitive aging research (1-page max)
  • Mentoring Interest Statement, noting the expert they would like to be mentored by and what you hope to gain from the year-long mentoring experience (1-page max). Please see the conference agenda for the detailed list of experts.

Up to 5 Colibri Scholars will be selected per year. The selection process will prioritize applications from: 1) early career researchers and 2) researchers new to the field of Latino cognitive aging. In accordance with applicable Federal and State law and University policy, the University of California does not discriminate, or grant preferences, on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, and/or other protected categories.
